Celebrity chef Paul Hollywood, who is currently judging bakes on the latest season of The Great British Bake Off, has shared his go-to dessert for impressing guests at a low cost - a frasier cake, also known as strawberry shortcake.
A frasier cake is a classic French cake which is made from two laywers of genoise sponge, moussoline cream and strawberries.
Although it looks impressive, it's actually incredibly easy to make - and doesn't have to cost a fortune. Paul, who is one of the UK's leading artisan bakers, suggested buying the sponge if you don't want to make it from scratch. "Then whip up cream, fold in some strawberry purée, then put sponges on top of that." When putting the cake together you also need to put sliced strawberries on the bottom of the cake, which gives it its iconic appearance.
In a video posted to his TikTok channel and Facebook page, Paul continued: "You'll end up with all the strawberries along the outside with a sponge base, sponge top.
