The Great British Bake Off contestants know they’re doing something right if they receive one of Paul Hollywood’s famous handshakes.
But the 57-year-old judge has revealed we won’t be seeing much of his trademark move in the new series. Speaking to OK! alongside fellow judge Prue Leith and new presenter Alison Hammond, the trio opened up about their time in the white tent.
As Paul admitted that he’s “always straight” with the bakers, Alison said: “There were not many handshakes, though, this year.” He then confirmed: “No, I was mean with the handshakes!” The gesture has become a top honour on the show over the years, dished out by Paul on rare occasions when he believes a bake is perfect.
And it sounds like Paul didn't hold back when it came to giving Alison some advice, either. Alison, 48, who is co-hosting alongside Noel Fielding after Matt Lucas' departure, admitted that working on the show has inspired her to bake more. "I have learnt lots," she said. "I made brownies twice.
