In a recent conversation with Empire, for their “Big-Screen Issue,” writer-director Patty Jenkins teases a flashback sequence in the upcoming “Wonder Woman 1984,” as well as alludes to the possibility for a spin-off series and/or a sequel for the franchise.

Wonder Woman 1984 will feature not just one, but two villains, and the fans could not be more excited to catch the DC characters in action. After the overwhelming success of the last film, Patty Jenkins decided to add some more spice to the Gal Gadot starrer’s sequel which will feature the superhero locking horns with two antagonists. The movie will feature Kristen Wiig’s Barbara Minerva aka the Cheetah and Pedro Pascal’s Max Lord as the villains. During her recent interview, the filmmaker explained the reason behind the plot detail.

Wonder Woman 1984 was set to release in June 2020. However, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the Gal Gadot starrer has been postponed to August. While the wait has been extended, it hasn't stopped Patty Jenkins from teasing the movie. The director recently spoke to Empire magazine and discussed Kristen Wiig villain Cheetah in the movie. The director explains Barbara turns into Cheetah due to Diana. The filmmaker explains Cheetah turns dark due to her insecurity of not being as good as Diana.

Gal Gadot, for the rest of her life, will be known for donning the heavy boots of beloved DC superhero Wonder Woman and changing the perception of female-led movies performing poorly at the box-office! While Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League were failing spectacularly, it was up to Gal and Patty Jenkins to revive the DCEU, and that's exactly what they did with Wonder Woman! It's no wonder that the second installment of the Wonder Woman franchise was immediately in the works.

The Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins stepped back from directing the Marvel Cinematic Universal film when the script offered to her was not as per her expectations. The director reportedly said that she did not wish to disappoint the fans of MCU and audience members to such an extent where they feel the film missed its mark because of her. Patty Jenkins states that fear was that the fans would think why a woman directed the film and missed including all the crucial elements. The MCU film Thor Dark World then fell into the lap of director Alan Taylor. The film performed well at the box office but sadly was considered one of the worst MCU flicks to date. The reviews of the film were not something that is expected from a Marvel flick.
