The heartbroken parents of a baby girl who died of a deadly bacterial infection were warned of the disease the day after she died.

Elsie Williams died in her mum’s arms at just eight days old after contracting Group B Strep. The tragic tot’s parents are calling for greater awareness of the ­condition which causes more than 50 baby deaths a year and leaves 50 more with lifelong disabilities.

Less than 24 hours after saying goodbye to Elsie, a letter arrived confirming mum Sally had GBS. It came with an information leaflet about the infection.
