direct to your inbox A man has been arrested after 10 children were attacked outside a school in Rochdale. One victim, a 12-year-old boy, was repeatedly punched in the face as he cycled to school.
Another, a 14-year-old boy, was taken to hospital with minor injuries following the attacks near Wardle Academy on Friday morning.
At least two girls are thought to be among the victims, who are aged 11-16.Police were called to the school on Birch Road at 8.35am.A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault.Police say the attacks are being treated as 'an isolated and contained incident' and are 'not believed to be hate or terror-related'.It's understood the man was heard to ask some of the children for a cigarette before assaulting them..
