Bosses at Paisley's university are celebrating after the institution was shortlisted for a record number of national education awards.Leading business academic, Professor John Struthers, is just one of the staff at the University of the West of Scotland who faces clinching a title at the Herald Higher Education Awards.The Paisley-based expert from the School of Business and Creative Industries is in the running for the Lifetime Achievement gong at the awards, which aim to recognise excellence across a wide range of individual, team and institutional initiatives at Scotland's universities.The institution has also been recognised across a range of other categories, including in Marketing/PR Campaign of the Year, as well as being in the running for the Enhancing Student Learning Award for the Collaboration in the Curriculum: A Partnership Approach to Academic Skills project.Don't miss the latest headlines from around Renfrewshire.
Sign up to our newsletters here.University boffins have also been nominated for the Research Project of the Year title for work on safeguarding wellbeing and sustainability in aquaculture, while the Knowledge Transfer Partnership Centre which aims to translate academic study into projects for business has been nominated in the Outstanding Business Engagement in Universities section.The UWS student success team could clinch the Innovative use of Technology Award, while student Gemma Lumsdaine has been nominated in the Outstanding Contribution from a University Student category, senior lecturer Khadija Mohammed from the UWS School of Education is in the running for the award for Outstanding Contribution from a Staff Member and the team could also clinch the title in the Widening Access category over
