Paisley thug facing prison for bottle attack on man in Linwood pub

A Paisley man could be facing a prison sentence after he struck someone over the head with an empty beer bottle. Samuel McDonald had been drinking at The Heritage Bar in Linwood on February 17 last year alongside Thomas Orr.

However, things turned ugly during the course of the night when Mr Orr went to the toilet and McDonald, of Acer Crescent, followed him and assaulted him.The 60-year-old struck an empty Newcastle Brown Ale bottle over Mr Orr’s head which left him bleeding from a two-inch laceration and hunched over the sink.

Procurator fiscal depute Michael Cunningham told Paisley Sheriff Court: “Orr and the accused were sitting at the bar drinking together. “At around 10pm, Orr attended at the male toilets followed shortly behind by the accused.
