The sixth series of Love Island began broadcasting on 12 January 2020 on ITV2. The series was announced on 24 July 2019 when it was confirmed that two series would air in 2020, and is also the first winter edition of the series. Unlike the summer edition, the luxury villa is located in Cape Town. This series is also the first to be hosted by Laura Whitmore, having taken over from Caroline Flack. The series is narrated by Iain Stirling.

On 15 February 2020, following the death of former presenter Caroline Flack, the Unseen Bits episode due to air that day was not broadcast; but was made available on the ITV Hub. The regular episode did not air the following day either. The show returned on 17 February with a tribute to Flack. On the same day, ITV2 confirmed that the companion series Love Island: Aftersun which was set to air after that episode's main show would not be broadcast. Paige Turley appeared on Love Island: After Sun on Sunday night and opened up about her break up with Finley Tapp. The couple won Winter Love Island together in 2020 and had been going from strength to strength before going their separate ways earlier this year.

The Scots star, 25, insisted that she and her ex-beau are still 'really good friends' after their three-year relationship came to an end.Speaking to host Maya Jama on After Sun on Sunday night, she said: "We're still really good friends.

I think we drifted apart."Paige and Finn's relationship got serious quick after the first ever series of Love Island Winter Sun came to an end at the end of January 2020, just before the pandemic and the new couple spent lockdown at Paige's family home in West Lothian before they moved in together in Manchester. "We did lockdown together and any and every struggle we could have faced we were faced with," she added.

Maya couldn't resist asking Paige if she was looking for love yet again, and she responded: "No, no, not for a while."The Scots beauty appeared alongside former co-star and close pal Shaughna Phillips, who joked 'she's the new bombshell' heading into the villa.
