Over 50 people have died in the NHS Tayside region from COVID-19, it has been revealed.The latest statistics from the National Records of Scotland showed 55 deaths involving the coronavirus were recorded across the region up to April 12.That is a rise of 38 in a week.The figure means there is a death rate of 1.3 per 10,000 people in the region.Across Scotland, nearly 1000 deaths were recorded.

The health board with the highest deaths was Glasgow, with 315.A quarter of deaths were recorded in care homes, with 62 per cent in hospitals and 13 per cent in other settings.
