A swan's unhatched eggs were destroyed after a concrete slab was hurled by thugs onto a nest. Residents living near to Rhodes Lodges, in Middleton, had been enjoying watching two swans building a nest and guarding their cygnet eggs during the lockdown period.
The eggs were expected to hatch soon and many had been sharing images of the swans and their nest on social media. However, it was found destroyed over the weekend following two separate incidents.
There were reports an unleashed dog jumped on the nest on Saturday, May 30. Later the same day, after 9pm, three teenagers were also witnessed hurling a concrete slab or brick onto the nest.
