Outgoing Manchester council chief Sir Richard Leese will take charge of the NHS in the region as he becomes chair of a major new health board, it has been announced.

Sir Richard, who has led the council for 25 years, announced in September that he will be stepping down from that top job in December.

He will take on the leading role at the newly-established Integrated Care Board (ICB), it has been revealed today (October 13).
