Otis Reading III has died following his cancer battle. Otis was the son of the late, great Otis Ray Redding Jr. who was best known for tracks such as The Dock of the Bay, My Girl and I've Been Loving You Too Long.
Otis III followed in his famous father's footsteps and also pursued a career in music. He was only three years old at the time of Otis Jr's passing after a plane crash in 1967 with the rest of his band.
Confirming the news of Otis III's death, his devastated sister Karla Redding-Andrew penned on Facebook: “It is with heavy hearts that the family of Otis Redding III confirms that he lost his battle with cancer last evening." Otis is survived by his siblings Karla, Demetria and Dexter.
It was with his brother Dexter and their cousin Mark Lockett who he created the band The Reddings with, with the trio going on to record six albums in the 1980s.
