Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel for the second year in a row, the 96th Academy Awards are honoring the top movies from 2023, with Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” leading the pack with 13 nominations.
Stars Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt and Robert Downey Jr. all earned acting nods, with Nolan up for director and the 3-hour, R-rated movie the frontrunner for best picture.
Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Poor Things,” starring best actress nominee Emma Stone as a reanimated woman in a “Frankenstein”-esque fable, follows closely behind with 11 nominations.
Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone and Robert De Niro, earned 10 nods.
