Orven Schanzer has died aged 97 after going into respiratory arrest.The late film editor died on 5 January in Los Angeles, his family confirmed.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa, and his nieces and nephews. Over the course of his 45 year career, Orven worked with names like Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Jayne Mansfield.
He also worked on hit movies such as Cleopatra, We’re Not Married!, The Seven Year Itch and The Wayward Bus, in addition to several television shows.
Orven started his career at Fox in 1947, and worked from the studio up until 1992 when he retired. At the beginning of his career, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the late 97 year old was “a frequently uncredited first assistant film editor”.
