With Bambi eyes, one wonky antler and no parents, Holy Moley the orphaned reindeer is about to steal the nation’s hearts in a documentary on Thursday.
Born in Scotland’s Cairngorm mountains, home to Britain’s only free-roaming reindeer herd, she fell down a deep boulder hole as a newborn and was rescued by herders.
Then her mum disappeared, leaving her alone and unprotected from bullies in the herd. Owner Tilly Smith says: “Holy Moley is one of 150 reindeer who all have individual personalities and names because they’re just like family to me.
She’s a tiny wee soul with a big personality, and there’s no doubt she’s special.” When Holy Moley was two days old, herders found her mum Galilee looking very distressed as her calf was missing.
