Original ‘Star Wars’ Han Solo gun sells for $1M at auction
nypost.comnothing is a match for a good blaster at your side — and it seems he was right. The original gun held by Harrison Ford in the original “Star Wars” film sold for more than $1 million at an auction held over the weekend, reports TMZ.
Ford’s DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol was sold for a whopping $1,057,500 and is the last surviving example of three models that were made for the franchise’s original trilogy.
The firearm was originally valued between $300,000 and $500,000.The weapon can be seen strapped to Ford’s leg during the conclusion of “Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope” and was later reported missing after the film wrapped, forcing the artist to re-create a new gun for “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi.”In 2018, the gun used in “Jedi” was sold for $550,000.According to Rock Island Auction, the Illinois-based company where the iconic prop weapon was sold, the gun was once used by Frank Sinatra in the 1967 film “The Naked Runner” before “Star Wars” set decorator Roger Christian turned it into the blaster using excess military surplus parts.
