Greater Manchester has a long history of producing some fine actors - Sir Ian McKellen, Claire Foy and Ben Kingsley are among a host of stars who hail from the region.
A new name, born in Salford, is joining their ranks - fast becoming a star of the screen in the age of streaming. The grandson of a local publican, Lewis Tan was born and raised in Ordsall before his dad's job took the family to the US.
Now Lewis spends most of his time on film sets, appearing in Marvel's box office smash Deadpool 2 and Netflix's Iron Fist and Wu Assassins.
And that is just the beginning. The 33-year-old has spent months in Australia shooting his first leading movie role, heading up Warner Bros' next franchise - a reboot of the Mortal Kombat film series.
