OPINION: The obsession with physical type makes this year’s Love Island the most toxic yet

‘100 per cent my type on paper’ is a phrase that is so interlinked with Love Island you simply cannot think of one without the other.

You can even buy t-shirts with the phrase on them. It’s one of the first questions that gets asked when a newbie heads into the show.

And usually, they have a looks-centric answer with perhaps a ‘makes me laugh’ tagged on to the end. It’s no secret that Love Island producers want a certain look on the show.

We learned all about it when Hugo got in trouble for saying that he found ‘fake’ girls unattractive. To be perfectly honest, I don’t think Love Island is ready for a mid-sized or a plus-sized person.
