Netflix is starting fresh with One Piece. The streamer announced Sunday that it will be reimagining the popular manga for a new anime series during the popular manga and anime convention Jump Festa 2024.
Titled The One Piece, the series is currently in production. A release date has yet to be revealed. The series will be produced by WIT Studio, which is known for their work on hit anime such as SPY x FAMILY and Attack on Titan, in partnership with Shueisha, Fuji Television Network, and Toei Animation Co.
It promises to be “distinct” from the ongoing TV anime series that has been running for more than two decades, “to provide viewers with a fresh yet familiar experience, utilizing cutting-edge visual technology to reimagine Luffy’s adventures through the beloved East Blue saga.” Based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga title, One Piece follows the otherworldly adventures of Monkey D.
Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his pirate crew as they explore exotic islands and endless oceans in search for the ultimate treasure “One Piece” to become the next Pirate King.
