One person has died and around 30 passengers are injured - many of them seriously - after a train partially derailed in the Netherlands, according to reports emerging on Tuesday morning.
The crash happened between the Dutch cities of The Hague and Leiden. According to unconfirmed reports the train hit construction equipment left out on a track At least one carriage derailed on Tuesday and came to rest in a field next to the tracks.
Television images showed people using makeshift bridges to cross a canal running alongside the railway line to reach the stricken train and its passengers in darkness early on Tuesday.
The exact cause of the accident that happened around 3.25 am in the town of Voorschoten, near The Hague, is not immediately clear, reports said.
