Olly Murs has called for a huge rule change on The Voice - to allow a talented contestant to sing his own original songs. The X Factor runner up is mentoring Benjamin Haycock, who blew judges away during Blind Auditions with his own song, Restlessness, written as an open letter to the dad who died when he was 16.
Turning his chair, Olly told Benjamin on the show: "Its a massive risk for anyone to come out and sing their own song. Credit to you, that was stunning. "I would love to break the rules on this show.
I'd like you to sing your songs on each and every round to the final. As if the songs are that good, they should be heard on each and every stage." Visibly pleased with the response, Devon-based Benjamin picked Olly as his mentor.
