Olly Alexander 'set to become first gay actor to play Doctor Who'

Olly Alexander is reportedly going to be the first gay actor to play Doctor Who, becoming the 14th Time Lord on the BBC One fan-favourite.The 30 year old, who recently shared a peak inside his stylish east London flat, is said to be in the "advanced stage" of negotiations with show bosses in securing his role as the Time Lord.

If it goes ahead, the singer, who rose to fame as the frontman of Years & Years, will replace Jodie Whittaker, 39, who became the first female to play the role.

Jodie will allegedly step aside after two specials in 2022. “Olly is on the verge of being announced as the new Doctor. Negotiations are at an advanced stage," an insider told The Sun Online.
