The Scotland international came off the bench to win the game for United on Tuesday night as he netted the only goal of the match in extra-time.United had struggled for fluidity all night at Old Trafford but secured a 1-0 win when substitute McTominay smashed a low effort into the net with a penalty shoot-out looming.
The clean strike marked McTominay's seventh goal of the season as he scored for the third match in a row - and Solskjaer was delighted with the work from his midfielder. "He's a clinical striker of the ball," Solskjaer.
