It gives Walls his second medal of the Games after his omnium gold, and a first medal for Hayter, who is from London but shares a flat with his teammate in Manchester.

In the Madison race, each team aims to complete the most laps of the circuit, with riders taking it in turns to complete laps.

Britain and France finished tied on 40 points, three behind Denmark's Lasse Norman Hansen and Michael Morkov, who claimed the gold medal in the cycling event on Saturday.
