I’m not saying it’s not funny, I’m pretty sure it is, but from what I’ve seen, in order to truly get SNL jokes you have to know so much about American culture and politics that laughing performatively at SNL to show how worldly you are is, to my mind, as cringe as laughing performatively at Shakespeare.

So I’m not a regular viewer, but I am very faintly obsessed with Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson, who is in the news this week because it has been revealed through a series of paparazzi shots that he is the new boyfriend of Kim Kardashian.
