OceanGate is facing even more backlash following the death of five passengers on its Titan submersible.
Why is that? Well, online sleuths discovered a job posting from the company advertising an “immediate opening” for a submersible pilot – which was still live during the search efforts for the vessel and the group of men.
Oof… According to Insider on Friday, the listing was on OceanGate’s website and Indeed this week. The business was asking for “a committed and competent individual with combination of strong mechanical and interpersonal skills who can work on sensitive marine equipment, perform regular maintenance and operate complex systems to support dive operations.” OceanGate also requested for someone who can work in small spaces, such as going through a 28-inch diameter ring, and is “positive and energetic with [a] good sense of humor.” Related: Legal Expert Says Titan Sub Victims’ Families Could Still Sue! But, per Insider, OceanGate was accepting applications until Friday morning, at least on Indeed, and it was removed hours later that day.
