‘Obliterated’ Was Netflix’s Most Watched Canceled Series, ‘Sex Education’ Led Farewells In Second Half Of 2023
deadline.comFreshman drama Obliterated held the dubious distinction of being the most watched Netflix series in the second half of 2023 to be canceled, according to the streamer’s viewership data made public today.
Released Nov. 30, the action comedy was #20 in the rankings for the six-month period, generating 27M views in its first month of release.
The high position should not come as a surprise as Obliterated spent a respectable six weeks in the Netflix Top 10 for English-language series, peaking at #1 in Week 2.
Since the streamer largely bases its renewal decisions on analyzing viewing vs. cost, the size of the latter must have outweighed the magnitude of the former, which would also explain why a show like Sweet Magnolias (#37 on the list with 20.9M views over 5+ months), was comfortably renewed.
