An NWAS worker who tried to murder her boss has been jailed for 20 years. Stacey Smith lay in wait for her manager, Michala Morton, outside her victim's home armed with a hammer after blaming her for issues at work.
After Ms Morton left her house in Dukinfield, Tameside, to go to work, Smith struck. CCTV footage later obtained by police showed her raising the hammer and hitting her again and again on the head, arms, legs and torso. Smith eventually dropped the hammer in the street and drove off. Smith, of Ascot Road, Newton Heath, admitted causing GBH with intent but denied attempted murder.
However, she was found guilty of attempted murder following a trial at Manchester Crown Square that concluded earlier this month.
