Nurse 'crushed to death' by 'careless' lorry driver in horror motorway crash

A nurse was 'crushed to death' when a 'careless' lorry driver crashed into her car causing a three-vehicle pile-up, a court was told.

Victoria Kavanagh was driving her Citroen C1 on the M6 in Black Country when Robert Ward's HGV smashed into the back of her vehicle 'with tremendous force' on the morning of July 27, 2020.

The 56-year-old defendant allegedly manoeuvred his truck into the nearside lane before being able to 'clearly' see the build-up of traffic ahead.

He immediately slammed on his brakes, but did not have enough time to stop and careered into the 41-year-old victim's car. The mum-of-two tragically died at the scene, Birmingham Live reports.
