Novak Djokovic is facing a fine of up to $20,000 (£15,000) after already being docked the $250,000 (£190,000) he earned by reaching the round of 16 at the US Open.
The World No1 was disqualified in his match with Pablo Carreno Busta in shocking fashion as he struck a line judge with the ball while venting his frustration.
Djokovic had just dropped his serve to trail 6-5 in the opening set and the ball he hit cannoned into the throat of the court-side official.
Though he did not mean to hit the line judge and a lengthy discussion with tournament referees followed, the rules on such incidents are clear and Djokovic was disqualified from the tournament.
