Notorious cat killer dies in jail after murdering at least nine pets

A cat killer who tormented pets and their owners during a deadly campaign of terror has died in prison. Steve Bouquet was sentenced to jail after murdering nine cats and injuring seven more.

The former security guard and Royal Navy gunner carried out his deadly rampage between October 2018 and May 2019 in Brighton, East Sussex.

He was eventually apprehended by police after being caught on CCTV set up by one of the owner's who lost their beloved pet. The Prison Service confirmed today that he passed away in hospital on January 6, the Mirror reports.

During his sentencing, the court heard how Bouquet had been told he had thyroid cancer, which had spread to his lungs and liver.
