A new national park could be created in North Wales, making it the fourth one in the country. Wales currently has three national parks: the Pembrokeshire Coast, Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) and Eryri (Snowdownia).
It would encompass the areas of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley National Landscape, formerly Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
If created, the national park would be the first in Wales and the first since the Brecon Beacons was designated in 1957. But a publication consultation to create a fourth park in Wales has been underway and is due to end this week.
It would cover around 150 square miles of north-east Wales, from the coast close to Prestatyn in Denbighshire and down into northern Powys.
