Normal People star Paul Mescal made his first ever TV appearance when he starred in an Irish sausage advert. The actor, 24, has proven to be a major heartthrob after his entrance as Connell Waldron on the BBC show, but he has a very interesting back-story into the world of acting.

He started his career on the big screen by featuring in an ad for Irish sausage brand Denny. Paul, who is originally from County Kildare in Ireland, can be seen playing an excited son for the brand, where he is inspired to 'seize the Denny' (day) and jets off on his travels.

The actor recently confirmed on RTE One's Late Late Show that it was his first ever on-screen role after he'd spent years working to get onto the big screen after putting in work on the Irish
