In a turn that will surprise no one, Normal People has swept the board at the 2021 Irish Film and Television Awards. The 2020 show missed out last year as it aired outside of the deadline but it has certainly made up for it.
This time around there was no escaping the behemoth RTÉ/BBC series based on Sally Rooney’s best-selling novel which picked up no less than 15 IFTA nominations.
Fresh off the win of a BAFTA, Paul Mescal is up for Best Actor in a Drama. In fact, Normal People did so well that even Fionn O’Shea picked up a nod for his turn as the much-hated villain Jamie in the series.
That wasn’t the only nomination for Fionn though as he is also nominated for Best Actor in a Film for his starring role in Dating Amber.
