Noel Gallagher spilled the beans on one of rock and roll's most notorious splits, revealing that a row over an ad in an Oasis tour programme was the catalyst to their breakup.The guitarist, 57 – who this week announced a sensational comeback with his brother, Liam, 51– explained, back in 2011, that his exit from the band spiralled from a disagreement over Liam's demands for free promotion for his clothing line.

Noel left the group in 2009 after years of tension between him and his brother. He recounted the night of his departure, which resulted in the cancellation of a headline slot at a Paris festival, saying that Liam stormed into the dressing room wielding a guitar like "an axe".
