A devastated family who lost their baby to a rare genetic condition say his diagnosis finally helped them come to terms with his tragic loss.
Phil and Claire Drinkwater were left heartbroken after losing their Jude on new year's day in 2020. The youngster suffered from Rett Syndrome, which is most commonly found in baby girls, Since that devastating day, the couple and their two children Mathilde, 10, and Marnie, 3, have turned their grief into positive change, by raising over £11,000 for Reverse Rett.
The charity aims to support people with Rett Syndrome to work towards treatment and a cure. Jude was just 22 months old when he sadly passed away.
But for a significant period of time, Phil and Claire say the family had no idea what was happening to their son. Shortly before his death, his parents shared that despite their grief they found some relief when they finally found out what was wrong.
