There is no such thing as a holiday according to Queen of the South boss Marvin Bartley. The Palmerston gaffer was away recently as he prepares to start pre-season work with his squad in the coming weeks but he revealed the life of a manager is far from normal when it comes to time off.
He said: “There’s no such thing as a holiday to be honest. It’s just work in a different country. “That really is it. My day would be; get up and go to the gym, have breakfast and then I’d take my laptop down poolside and I’d find a shaded area and do some work there until 2pm or 3pm every day. “Normally I’d be watching games and players and fielding calls in and around that.
I’d put my phone down at dinner time and I’d have my cut off at about 8pm every night but until that I was taking calls every single day that I was away.” He added: “That’s the job though isn’t it?
My missus has to understand. I’m not saying she does understand but she has to understand that’s the job. That’s the dedication.
