A woman almost missed being able to celebrate her 10-year wedding anniversary after being refused entry onto a Ryanair flight because of an 'unclear' rule over passports.
Before arriving at Stansted Airport, Caroline Smith had already checked in online for a holiday to Ibiza to celebrate her and her husband Dan's 10-year wedding anniversary, as well as his 40th birthday.
However, the couple had to fly separately. She told NottinghamshireLive that nobody flagged up any issues when she checked in online but she arrived at the airport for her flight to find that Ryanair would not be allowing her to board the plane.
Caroline's passport expiration date is not until March 2023, but the issue date on her passport is for June. Fortunately, she was able to board a flight to her destination with Jet2 an hour after she was originally supposed to fly, with this airline company having no problems allowing Caroline to board.Caroline said: "It was a nightmare.
