Nicolas Cage rushes to airport after welcoming new daughter to honor commitment at TIFF

Nicolas Cage honored his commitment, even though it meant tearing himself away from his wife and new born baby girl.The 58-year-old actor rushed to the airport shortly after he and wife Riko Shibata, 27, welcomed their first child together.

The little one, named August Francesca Coppola, was born Wednesday, September 7 in Los Angeles. Smiles: Nicolas Cage, 58, was all smiles at the Toronto International Film Festival where he supported his film Butcher's Crossing.

The actor rushed to the airport following the birth of his new daughter to honor his promise to the festivalAfter being assured that both mother and daughter were well, the Oscar winner jumped on an airplane and headed to the Toronto Film Festival to promote his latest film, Butcher's Crossing.  'I literally just left the hospital and got on a plane, and came here,' he explained at the People and Entertainment Weekly photo booth. 'The deal was: 'Look, if my daughter has not arrived yet, then I'm not going, but tell them I most likely will go.''I would not have been here, but I kept my word, and I'm here honoring my commitment — but I'm looking forward to getting back to my wife and my daughter.'  Oh baby!: The Oscar winner and his wife, Riko Shibata, 27, welcomed their first child together, August Lennon Cage Wednesday, September 7 August is Riko's first child and Nicolas' third.

The Kick-Ass actor has son Weston Coppola Cage, 31, with ex Christina Fulton and son Kal-El, 16, with ex-wife Alice Kim. Nicolas and Riko married in a small ceremony in Las Vegas in 2021.
