Nicola Sturgeon says Scotland's recovery should be in Scotland's hands as she calls for 'experienced leadership'

Scottish Parliament election campaign. Scots will head to the poll on May 6 in what is expected to be a crucial election for the future of Sturgeon's independence dream.

As the starting gun sounded for the campaign the SNP leader vowed to lead a campaign with "optimism" and "hope". Sturgeon has faired better in opinion polls in her dealing with the pandemic, however she said the recovery should be in Scotland's hands - not Boris Johnson 's.

She added: "On May the 6 th I am asking the people of Scotland to put their trust in me and an SNP government to lead our country through the pandemic and into recovery.
