Nicola Sturgeon has denied that coronavirus is running out of control in Scotland after nearly 1000 new cases were confirmed overnight.
The First Minister said that although the infection rate was high, the spread is taking place from a much lower base than when the pandemic was at its peak in the spring.
It comes as 956 new cases were recorded across the country in the past 24 hours, with no deaths registered. When asked if the rate of infection is out of control during the interview on the Sophy Ridge On Sunday, Sturgeon said: "No, absolutely not and we're working hard to make sure that doesn't happen."The R number, the latest figures today suggest that it is spreading a bit faster but the number of cases per 100,000 of the population are.
