Aberdeen star Nicky Devlin has seen enough Spartans shocks not to take anything for granted going into their Premier Sports Cup quarter-final clash. The Scottish League Two outfit have shown they can punch above their weight, as they won their group section, ahead of Livingston, and then knocked out Premiership Ross County in the last round.
Spartans also stunned Dundee United in last season’s competition. Devlin knows the capital side need to be treated with respect by the on-form Dons if they want to book themselves an early visit to Hampden for the semi-finals.Devlin said: “Over the last two years just off the top of my head I know Spartans have beaten Dundee United and they beat Ross County this year.
They've beat Livingston this year to win the group on the last day. So there’s no way we will be taking them lightly.“We saw from the Queen's Park game (in the last round) how tough it can be against teams from the leagues below.
Spartans have nothing to lose, they’re one game away from playing at Hampden in a semi-final so they will be right up for it and confident they can create another shock.
