Saban won six national titles at Alabama and one at Louisiana State University. He took his most recent Alabama team into this year’s national championship final four, falling to the eventual national champions by 27-20 in overtime in the Rose Bowl.
He also had a brief and unsuccessful stint coaching the NFL’s Miami Dolphins from 2005-2006, going 15-17 before returning to the college game.
He also coached in the NFL as defensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns. Saban has not spoken on his retirement, but multiple sources have confirmed his news.
