Nick Kamen has sadly died. The British model and singer, known for a famous 1985 Levi’s ad, as well as collaborating with Madonna, passed away at the age of 59, a friend of the family confirmed to the PA Media news agency on Wednesday (May 5), via CNN.

The agency reported that Nick, born Ivor Neville Kamen, died Tuesday night (May 4) after a long illness.

He first rose to fame appearing on the cover of The Face in 1984 wearing lipstick, and assumed sex symbol status in the ’80s for a risque commercial for Levi’s 501, in which he stripped down to his boxers.
