An NHS nurse who came out of retirement to help during the coronavirus pandemic has said she is "delighted" to be named in this year's New Year Honours.

Catherine Fitzsimmons, a palliative care nurse, will receive a BEM after being one of the first to come out of retirement to help in hospitals in Greater Manchester.

It came after she retired from the NHS after 42 years in January 2019. Speaking on Good Morning Britain on Thursday, Catherine said: "It wasn't a difficult decision to me at all to be honest.
