Some hospitals still have car parking charges and frontline health staff have been slapped with fines, it has been reported.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock had vowed to scrap charges in England at the start of the Covid outbreak. But a Mirror investigation last week found that around 185,000 NHS staff are being charged to park at hospitals and clinics where they work, despite the pledge.
A poll of 2,000 staff conducted for the Mirror by the GMB union found only 6 per cent had stopped being charged and are again paying, while 8 per cent have been paying fees throughout the crisis.
GMB's national officer Rachel Harrison said it was 'a disgrace' that key workers were left paying fees to park while caring for our loved ones.
