New Two Doors Down series air date confirmed as favourite cast member's exit confirmed

Hit Scots sitcom Two Doors Down returns to the small screen this week.Bosses have confirmed the comedy show will be back on BBC 2 Scotland on Wednesday night.And Ayrshire's very own favourite son, Graeme Stevely aka Grado will reprise his role as dopey Alan.Grado, who is best known for being a wrestler, the Stevenston dad has made inroads into acting in recent years with roles in Scot Squad and Christmas panto at the PavillionBut one of the casts' stars won't be returning to Latimer Crescent after it was announced that Doon Mackichan has left the show and her character is set to be written out of the programme.

In new episodes, Doon's character, Cathy, has apparently left husband Colin, played by Jonathan Watson. The rest of the cast will be returning to the popular comedy, with Arabella Weir and Alex Norton playing Beth and Eric.

Christine (Elaine C Smith), ever-positive Michelle (Joy McAvoy), loving son Ian (Jamie Quinn) and his wide-eyed fiancé Gordon (Kieran Hodgson) will also be reprising their roles in the new season.Doon, who played Cathy, announced earlier this year that she was leaving the show to focus on other things.Written by Simon Carlyle and Gregor Sharp, episode 1 of series 6 will be called 'Macaroni' and will see Colin in a vulnerable state after being unceremoniously dumped.Beth and Eric are seen to be doing their very best to help, but conversation is strained when Christine steams in demanding the glory details.It's understood that Siobhan Redmond will become a feature of the sitcom as Colin's new lover from episode 3.
