A newly-introduced phone app has helped Perthshire’s players keep on top of their fitness during the festive period. And it has also allowed coaches to get their hands on valuable data relating to who has been putting in the hard graft - and, of course, who has not!Head coach Alan Clark was keen to provide his squad with the tool - produced by The Wellbeing Venture - for a number of reasons.“The guys have been looking after themselves and we actually set up a team training tool for them to use over Christmas and New Year,” he explained to the PA.“It was to give them some sessions to do but also to help us monitor, track and record what they have done.

It ensures that we know where we’re starting from because, after Christmas, you often have no idea.“Some might be really unfit while others have been training really hard.

This year we have that information.”Providing some further insight about the app, which includes cardio and speed guidance, Clark noted: “The guys can log their daily training and there are the sessions to complete.“And there’s a leaderboard included so there is definitely a competitive element to it.

You need to add some of that into it.“Some who would have been less likely to train have been pushed on.“For the players, there is a lot of other stuff on the app like, for example, mental health support.
