A planned new waste management plant in Bolton could create 20 jobs. Evergreen Waste Services Ltd have this week lodged plans to build the ‘state of the art’ plant on a plot of land currently used for vehicle storage on the corner of Waterloo Street and Slater Lane, just to the north of Bolton town centre.

Evergreen want to change the site’s use to a purpose built waste transfer station and recycling facility. The proposed plant would receive and treat mixed, dry, non-hazardous household, commercial, industrial, construction and demolition waste.

The plans include building erection a steel framed building, storage bays, empty skip storage, site office, steel containers and a weighbridge.

A design and access statement in support of the plans outlined the employment implication if the plant was approved. It said: “It is envisaged that the proposals would create up to 20 full time jobs, including drivers, administrative staff, plant operatives and site managers.” The site has previously used for the breaking of vehicles and processing of scrap metal.
