New research lays bare major change to refereeing since Premier League restart

Referees are showing less yellow cards since the Premier League restarted. That is according to new research by RunRepeat who have studied all the major European leagues and seen the most dramatic change in English football.

The report also says: "Home-team advantage has disappeared from refereeing decisions since leagues have restarted." On average, Premier League referees are handing out one less yellow card in every game, going down from 3.5 cards/game to 2.53 cards/game, a 28% drop while they have also noticed away teams get fewer bookings now without crowds putting pressure on officials.
